We are smack dab in the middle of yet another holiday season. With it comes anticipation, love, laughter, family, traditions, friendship, memories, romance, and, for many, sadness and depression.
DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the reigning Tony Award winning Best Musical (along with 5 other Tonys) that throws its audience into the pain of social anxiety, loneliness, mental illness, and teenage suicide. It is a master class in how to present a serious and devastating subject in an entertaining, moving, yet frequently humorous way to have maximum impact on the audience.
The New York Times has described DEAR EVAN as “a gorgeous new musical for anyone with a beating heart.” TIME Magazine adds that DEAR EVAN is a “heart-scorching musical about the struggle to connect.”
EVAN HANSEN “works” on the strength of it’s lead actor/title character’s performance. In the original cast, Tony Award winning Best Actor, Ben Platt, rose to the challenge, surpassing all expectations. His replacement on Broadway, Noah Galvin, has fully and strongly taken the baton from Platt to create an Evan on his own terms (you may have seen Noah perform this song at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday!).
DEAR EVAN HANSEN begins a National Tour in October, 2018; it will also be mounting a London production in late 2018. If you can’t make it to Broadway, catch it on tour. It’s an important show that should not be missed.
Here is Ben Platt, with the cast of DEAR EVAN HANSEN – “You WILL Be Found.”
