FOTO FRIDAY… The Long, Winding Road

Amalfi Coast

One of the most spectacular drives I’ve been on is the long and winding road of the Amalfi Coast that runs along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula.  We’ve made many a family trip to this part of Italy.  Starting from beautiful Sorrento, winding from one little gem to the next, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello – like diamonds on a necklace!

if you are ever blessed to be in this part of the world, do it with a private guide (we always meet up with Giovanni Guida of “Joe Banana Limos” – if you do, ask him how he got his nickname and say “ciao” from the Argentos!).  It’s the best way to see everything at your own pace, to be able to take photos like this one, and to feel as if your favorite cousin, Joe Banana, is showing you his home.

Be sure to stop at my favorite family restaurant, La Tagliata, in the hills over-looking Positano.  The combination of home cooked, freshly grown organic food, still prepared by the loving hands of Papa Don Luigi’s wife, Signora Dora, and their son, Vincenzo, and served by Don and Dora’s other children, Peppino and Antonietta, and the spectacular views of Positano and Capri, will make you feel wrapped in love.
